Mould - Where does it come from?
Where does it come from?
Mould, also known as mold, is a type of fungus that grows in multicellular filaments / spores called hyphae which are airborne and a natural part of the environment. The spores are present in the air, they use the water droplets / condensation as a perfect environment to settle and germinate into mould. Once germinated mould can spread to other surfaces including, plaster, woodwork, flooring, furniture and even clothing.
Condensation is caused when airborne humidity in a room condenses onto a surface which is low enough in temperature. When the humid air encounters this cold surface small water droplets will form on the cold surface.
Remember, not only can mould be unsightly certain types of black mould can produce toxins and should be treated to protect the health of humans and animals.
